Businessman with the notebook 3

Twenty years ago, being qualified to work in IT simply meant one could use a computer proficiently. These days, IT is such a broad term which encompasses a huge number of rich and varied disciplines, it’s difficult to determine whether or not a prospective employee is proficient in the required area or not. This can be a bit of a minefield for any human resources manager and many employment agencies aren’t sure how qualified a person may or may not be. For example, if a person has worked in IT for the last twenty years, they could seem like the perfect candidate. But if their experience is solely in data input then they won’t be suited to a programming role.

It is this grey area that specialist IT recruitment agencies aim to bring some clarity to, as with a generic agency, it can be relatively easy for a person to ‘blag’ their way into a job which they are grossly under qualified for. Each employee of a specialist IT recruitment agency will have a background in information technology and by asking the proper questions, can determine which job seekers are suitable for certain IT jobs.

These specialist agencies can also be a godsend to those who work in the IT spectrum too. As the chances of an employer dressing up a menial job as something bigger would be greatly reduced. Any IT professional wants to be working at the top of their field and are very disappointed should their new specialist IT role turn out to be little more than basic data input, also known as ‘monkey work’. If you’re looking for IT jobs or need IT staff, then do yourself a favour and seek out a specialist IT employment agency.

Anyone with specific job skills and talent knows it can be a challenge to find the ideal employment situation. You may be searching within a preferred location or subsection of the business in which you work, to find the position that requires your unique set of skills and experience. A general employment agency is likely to be a waste of time. A head hunter who doesn’t specialise in placing people in your field isn’t going to know where the jobs are. There is one alternative that will yield a far greater possibility of placement, which is registering with a Microsoft recruitment agency.

Like most specialised areas of business, in order to stay abreast of important information in your industry, you’ll need to gain your info from industry sources that are connected to the movers and shakers. Trade resources like Microsoft Dynamics World is a website that publishes job listings available through Microsoft recruitment agencies for worldwide employment opportunities. Networking is another excellent source of information. Ask a fellow AX developer or consultant to introduce you to a Microsoft Sharepoint recruitment specialist at an agency where they were helped. If they had a good experience, most people are happy to share their resources with others. Most people like to win kudos for sending talent to the same employment agency that helped them find their specialist staff. When they need to find work once again, the agency will work harder for someone who makes good referrals and more importantly does good quality work.

Those seeking a job as a CRM consultant, AX developer, NAV project manager or GP/SL/RMS/POS jobs, can find placement with a Microsoft Dynamics recruitment agency. Again the best way to identify a reputable agency is through networking with other Microsoft certified employees or ex-employers. Ex-employers are even better sources of information about recruitment agencies. If you were wise and left your former employer on good standing, it is perfectly fine to contact them and ask for the names of preferred recruitment agencies. The next best source is a trade magazine. Agencies often advertise for talent. Arrange a meeting with one of the agency’s representatives. Be prepared with questions about their job placement strategy and their clientèle. If you are satisfied with the way they manage their human resources, work closely with them and they will probably place you with a great company.

Be sure and keep in touch with the representative, they might be the one to place you in your next position. Send trusted co-workers seeking a new opportunity to the representative that helped you and when you return they’ll be excited about helping you find work, because they will know that you are a person who makes excellent referrals and is the ideal candidate yourself. If they’re successful with your placement, they will have confidence in all the subsequent placement that you refer as well. Any Microsoft recruitment agency would be excited about working with a person with a great track record, who also shares his success stories with others.
